Assessment & Goal Setting
- Needs assessment identifies strengths and areas for improvement in your sexuality education knowledge or programming
- Through interviews, evaluations, and discussions with interested parties, I develop a portrait of the state-of-sexuality-education in your practice or organization. My ability to ingratiate myself quickly into your environment enables me to conduct fact-finding as an objective observer to whom teens and adults can speak openly and honestly. My reports facilitate future discussions and decisions.
Assessment of attitudes, beliefs and values of personnel and participants
- The best information or curricula can be undermined if it is delivered by people who disagree with its core values and principles. My facilitated discussions and assessment tools help participants understand their own and others’ attitudes beliefs and values and how they relate to the information you want to deliver.
- Work with you to develop goals and measurable objectives
- If you are a sole practitioner, your goal may be to become more comfortable communicating with patients or clients about sensitive topics. If you are a school administrator, your goal may be to update your sexual health curriculum and/or to train faculty. We will work together to develop goals and objectives that are both measureable and attainable.
- Strategic planning
- I present practical strategies that capitalize on strengths and remediates weaknesses or gaps in your sexual education program.
- Analyze existing resources
- I evaluate your handouts, websites, lesson plans, curricula, guest lecturers, personnel and other resources to see if they meet your needs, goals and values.
Program Development
- Committee/work group facilitation
- My results-oriented group facilitation generates ideas and motivates creative thinking and decision-making.
- Review and draft policies
- Having a thoughtfully crafted and clearly written policy ensures that everyone in your organization understands your expectations regarding sexual behavior (in group settings such as boarding schools), harassment, etc.
- Recommend resources
- As needed, I recommend books, articles, websites, textbooks, videos and other educational tools.
- Develop, update and customize lesson plans and curricula and other resources like these:
- Building Sexually Healthy Communities: An Educator’s Toolbox for STI & HIV Risk Reduction (Client: NJ Department of Health)
- Carroll Community Forum (online blog and lesson plan development for undergraduate professors. Client: Cengage Learning)
- Principled Commitment (10-week couples’ curriculum. Client: Unitarian Universalist Association)
- Taking the Mystery out of Female Orgasm (Distributed through physicians’ offices and Honest Exchange LLC)
