Making Out in Public: Crass or Cool?
April 3, 2010
Is it rude to make out in public? Might French kissing and body fondling be more appropriately savored in less public areas than waiting lines and subways? An op-ed piece in the NY Times today says so, and I agree.
Quick kisses and embraces are fine, but when couples start melting into each other and kissing so passionately that people nearby feel like voyeurs, it’s time to cool down the action. Sure, it’s tough to go hands-off when a partner makes your heart flip and your body fire up. But unless you’re at a club or party where fondling’s the norm, the people around you probably don’t want to bear witness to your action.
Aside from respecting other people’s rights not t be part of your sex life, putting the brakes on in public may make you private time hotter later. In lieu of a make-out session to the tsk-tsk looks of strangers, your subway ride could be extremely erotic if you can focus on your partner’s fingertip tracing a design on the back of your neck. You may decide to hop off the subway and find a private place to hop on your partner. Enjoy!
