Meet Melanie

Melanie Davis, EdD

Certified Sexuality Educator, AASECT

Principal, Honest Exchange, LLC

My experience as a sexuality educator began in 1984, when I volunteered as a patient educator for Planned Parenthood.  In 1999, in the midst of raising three daughters, I completed training to facilitate a comprehensive sex education program called Our Whole Lives Lifespan Sexuality Education. I taught adolescent and junior high students, and their parents’ requests for advice led me to create workshops on communication about sex.

From that modest beginning, I have crafted a career devoted to helping people learn about sexuality and sexual health and helping them communicate about sensitive topics with ease. Today, I am an AASECT-Certified Sexuality Educator who consults with individuals and couples, delivers programs and workshops for consumers and college students; trains health care providers and other professionals; consults with schools; and develops resource materials and curricula. In addition, I am the lead sexuality educator for the New Jersey Center for Sexual Wellness and an adjunct professor at Moravian College.

I believe that sexuality is a positive part of life that should be approached with respect, care, integrity, and even humor, at times. I also believe that people of all ages benefit by having developmentally appropriate, accurate information that is communicated in objectively and non-judgmentally. My work is informed by my active involvement in the sexuality educator and therapist community, my doctorate from the Widener University Graduate Program in Human Sexuality, my eagerness to continue to learn and research, and my interactions with clients and students.

Thank you for visiting my website. I look forward to working with you!
