Principal, Honest Exchange, LLC

My experience in sexuality education began in 1984, when I became a Planned Parenthood volunteer and taught patients about conception and contraception in addition to being an exam room assistant.  Hearing the patient’s concerns helped me realize how lucky I was to grow up in a home where sexuality was treated as a wonderfully enriching part of life that should be approached respect, care, integrity, and a sense of humor.

In 1999, I completed training to facilitate a comprehensive sex education program for adolescents in my religious community. Parents’ requests for advice led me to create workshops on parent-child communication about sex, and from that modest beginning, I have built a career devoted to helping people learn about sexuality, talk about it with ease, and protect their own and others’ sexual health–all within a sex-positive framework.

Through my company, Honest Exchange LLC, I speak at conferences, train health care providers and other professionals; consult with schools on sexuality policy, curricula and programming; develop resource materials and curricula; and offer educational programs for audiences across the lifespan.

I am a facilitator and consultant for the American Medical Student Association’s Sexual Health Scholars Program, and I teach Human Sexuality and Marriage & the Family courses at Moravian College. I co-founded and am the Director of Education Services for the New Jersey Center for Sexual Wellness.

I hold a doctorate in Education, with a specialty in Human Sexuality Education from Widener University. I also hold a B.A. in Mass Communications with a minor in Women’s Studies.  I am an AASECT-Certified Sexuality Educator (American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists).

In 2009, I was accepted into Gamma Eta Rho, the Human Sexuality Education honor society, and in 2007, I was honored as an Emerging Professional in Sexuality Education by the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality for my commitment and contributions to the field. In 2009, I was approved as a Certified Sexuality Educator by the American Association for Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists.

My workbook, Sexuality Talking Points: A guide toward thoughtful conversation between parents and children, is an outgrowth of my monthly Buzz on the Birds and Bees blog. My articles on sexuality and relationships have appeared in Gannett Syndicate publications across the country, and I have been quoted in the Dallas Fort Worth Star–Telegram and the  Courier-News newspapers. I am among the top-ranked columnists for www.mommasaid.net, and I was the first Sexuality Editor-at-Large for Garden State Woman magazine.

Thank you for your interest in my work. I look forward to helping you!
